Police can confirm that the person killed when struck by a westbound train near Woodward Rd this afternoon is not a child.

Although identity is yet to be confirmed, police at the scene state that the body is that of a middle-aged female

This information is released in an attempt to alleviate the concerns of the many parents ringing police and train control.

The incident did not take place on the level crossing at Woodward Road, but was some 150m west of the road, along the track.

The matter is now being referred to the Coroner.
