A 27-year old Christchurch man has been charged in relation to an abduction and stabbing incident in the city last Thursday.
At a special court sitting in Christchurch Hospital this afternoon the man, who has interim name suppression, was charged with the attempted murder of a Christchurch City Council employee, who also has interim name suppression.
He was also charged with injuring truck driver Martiene Robin with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, two counts of kidnapping in relation to both victims, and possession of an offensive weapon.
The man, who was shot by a police officer during the incident, was remanded in custody until 29 March. He will remain in prison custody in Christchurch Hospital.
Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
