Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) has selected Treble Cone Ski field to represent the country’s snow-sports industry on the Tourism New Zealand website.
A thorough recce was carried out over the South Island’s tourist attractions and ski fields with Treble Cone being selected to feature on the TNZ website alongside tourism giants Milford Sound, Rotorua and Waitomo Caves representing the best New Zealand has to offer key international markets.
A team from Tourism New Zealand have erected a time lapse camera at Treble Cone that will capture several hours of on-slope action over the next 48hours with the footage being integrated into an international marketing campaign aimed at attracting key overseas markets.
“We needed a location that was both spectacularly beautiful looking down the mountain to the valley, and also one that allowed our unique infrastructure to be used. This included ensuring the light, view and position on the mountain were optimal to ensure the images we captured created an impressive and interactive user experience on newzealand.com,” said Anna Henwood, Tourism New Zealand’s brand manager.
Treble Cone management are delighted to have been selected providing a great promotional opportunity and one which has a positive effect on promoting Wanaka as a world class winter destination.
“The decision by TNZ to select Treble Cone as the sole ski area as part of this initiative reinforces how outstanding the view is from Treble Cone. It’s an iconic New Zealand view and we hope it will inspire many to come and visit the Lake Wanaka region,” said Nigel Kerr Treble Cone’s marketing manager.
The Tourism New Zealand website is a landing page for thousands of international visitors and for many, the first point of contact with New Zealand.
