Aggravated robbery in Wanganui

WHANGANUI

At about 9.10 pm on Monday 8th September an elderly gentleman was attacked at his home address in Hackett Street, Wanganui.
The attack happened when the victim answered his door to two male Maori in their mid teens, who burst into the address and immediately attacked him with a weapon.
The attackers demanded personal items and left in an unknown direction.
The victim required hospitalisation and is in a stable condition in the Wanganui Hospital.
Police are interested in sightings of suspicious activity in the Hackett/Burton/Wakefield Street areas during the evening of the 8th.
At about 9.40 pm a stolen EFTPOS card belonging to the victim was used at the Gonville Shopping Centre ATM machine. Police are interested in any vehicles or people seen in the area at the time.
