New Zealand racing driver Matt Halliday has been signed to contest the 2009 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, driving for defending Champions Federsand-Jetstream Motorsport. Halliday has been negotiating with the team which won last years championship for some time and is pleased to secure a permanent seat in what is regarded as the highest profile Porsche Championship worldwide.

The 11 rounds of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup are contested as support events to ten rounds of the FIA World Formula 1 Championship including Bahrain, Spain, Monaco, Turkey, Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Europe (Valencia), Belgium and Italy. Halliday will be in good company as his team mate will be two-time Porsche Supercup Champion, Richard Westbrook from Great Britain.

Team Principals at Federsand-Jetstream, Marcel Kessler and Renato Albers, have been impressed with Halliday's exploits in New Zealand Porsche GT3 campaigns along with his A1GP and Champcar outings so are looking forward to his first test session on April 8th - 10th at the Adria circuit in Italy.

"It's going to be great getting behind the wheel in such a high profile International campaign with such a professional and successful team. I appreciate the faith Marcel and Renato are placing in me and intend achieving the results the Team is aspiring to. Having New Zealand and Australian companies assisting me personally, such as 26000 Vodka and Ecoya along with Colin Giltrap and the Giltrap Group, is also rewarding considering the ongoing relationships we enjoy" Halliday said from his base in California.

Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2009 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will be held at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain on the weekend of April 24th - 26th.
