Concern grows over Moko interaction
Department of Conservation staff are concerned over the recent trend in peoples interactions with Whakatane’s resident marine mammal, Moko the bottlenose dolphin.

Play it safe around Moko the dolphin
As a result of Moko’s (the bottlenose dolphin) continued presence at West End, Otarawairere and the Whakatane Heads, Department of Conservation (DOC) again repeat their public warning message about safety.

Eastern Bay beaches called home for NZ dotterel
NZ Dotterels number only 1,700 approximately nationally and this breading season, they appear to be enjoying our Eastern Bay beaches.
