Youthline welcomes party pill regulation and calls for testing

A leading youth development organisation has welcomed government moves to restrict the sale of the party pill ingredient, DMAA, Youthline has also called for party pills to be tested for their long term impact, noting that no-one is sure, as yet, over what the long term consequences of usage might be.

Woman in court following drug seizures

Palmerston North — A joint operation in Palmerston North involving New Zealand Customs, the Central District Organised Crime Unit and the Palmerston North CIB has resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old woman who has been charged with importing the Class C controlled drug BZP (Benzylpiperazine).

Sale of BZP illegal by 1 April

Retailers and manufacturers of benzylpiperazine (BZP) and related substances have only five days left to hand over their stocks to police before an amendment to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 classifying these substances as controlled drugs comes into force.

The Misuse of Drugs (Classification of BZP) Amendment Bill

Mr Speaker, it seems to me that all the pump and preaching, moralising and ranting, pontificating and sermonising, around this Misuse of Drugs (Classification of BZP) Amendment Bill is nothing but a wall of noise to hide the lack of information, and the dearth of quality research about the use and effects of BZP.
