The 21st Australian International Beer Awards have just been announced and Mac’s has secured two trophies and five medals in a rigorously judged line up – fine accolades from our mates across the ditch that deserve to be toasted!

Mac’s Gold won the Trophy for Best Australian Style Lager – a title, which will no doubt send a shiver down the spine of those protecting New Zealand’s heritage.  Mac’s Hop Rocker scored a Trophy for Best Other Pilsner.  Both also achieved a Gold medal along with Mac’s Springtide for Low Carbohydrate Lager – Packaged.  Mac’s Great White won a Silver Medal for Belgian Wit - Packaged, and Mac’s Shady Pale won a Bronze Medal for Australian Style Pale – Packaged.

These awards are hot on the heels of the International Brewing Awards Gold medal accolade for Mac’s Sassy Red, sending a pretty firm pat on the back to all Mac’s drinkers for choosing such a fine drop not to mention the “award-winning” brewing team whose passion and expertise is behind the success of each brew.

Mark Scown from Lion comments, “Mac’s has a long history of making great beer across a range of styles and it’s international awards like these that really puts the spotlight on the quality of the beer within the Mac’s family, rewards our passionate brewers and justifies our drinkers passionate loyalty towards the brand.”

A record number of entries were received in 2013; over 1,480 beers were received from more than 230 brewers in 35 countries. A total of 658 medals were awarded overall, including 57 gold, 190 silver and 411 bronze medals.
