The immeasurable value of early childhood education cannot be underestimated.  At the Auckland Kindergarten Asssociation, children are seen as capable, competent, life-long learners.  They are encouraged to make their own learning choices, to problem solve, observe and explore at their own pace; with support from teachers, parents, wider whānau and their peers.

Kindergarten’ means ‘the children’s garden’.  At kindergarten, children are inspired and nurtured to actively discover, experience and come to understand the world around them.  It’s here where they will lay the foundations for the essential skills of life and where young minds are ignited and equipped to realise their full potential.

Auckland Kindergarten Association employs qualified early childhood teachers, who are professional, dedicated and passionate about children’s learning, and their evidence-based, quality learning programmes are underpinned by the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki.

Kindergarten teachers value the importance of children’s play and will nurture children's interests and natural curiosity.  Teachers model language, and introduce mathematical concepts, science, literacy, ICT, and sustainable practices to children.  Auckland kindergartens have gardens and natural outdoor spaces where children can create, explore, be imaginative and expressive.  There's plenty of room to safely run about. Children experience learning through their play and at kindergarten they have opportunities to be involved in large group activities, but also to work on and learn from their own interests

A kindergarten is a centre for children. For many New Zealanders, kindergarten was where we began our life of learning; it was where we started learning life skills like sharing, tolerance, patience, respect and self-confidence. Everything in the kindergarten environment is designed specifically for young children, from furniture that fits to resources that inspire.

Education is the single most important gift we can provide for a child.  Starting your child’s life of learning at kindergarten will ensure they establish essential life skills making their transition to school easier.
