Tougher Day For Kiwis At World Cup

After a good initial day of 12 medals, day two of the 2016 ITK Taekwon-Do World Cup in Budapest, Hungary was a lot tougher for New Zealand athletes.

Only three medals were won by Kiwi competitors as a number of others suffered late defeats in sparring contests.

Amelia Perry from Papakura captured a silver in the senior female blue and red belt sparring a while Liam Corbett from the Hauraki Plains won a silver in his sparring in the senior male blue and red belt 85kg + division.

Missy Thompson from the Hauraki Plains won her second bronze of the competition, this time in the veteran female blue and red belt sparring + 55kg category.

The sixth Taekwon-Do world cup is being held 11-16 October in Budapest, Hungary. It is the largest ever held in the world with over 1800 competitors representing 56 nations,

Amelia Perry (Paul M Club, Papakura) silver, senior female blue and red sparring (+75kg),

Liam Corbett (Caibre TIKD, Hauraki Plains) silver, senior male blue and red belt sparring (+85kg)

Missy Thompson (Calibre TKD, Hauraki Plains) bronze, veteran female blue and red belt sparring (+55kg)
