More Medals For Kiwis On Penultimate Day Of World Cup

Five medals, including two gold have pushed New Zealand’s medal total at the 2016 ITK Taekwon-Do World Cup in Budapest, Hungary to 23 after the penultimate day of the competition.

Tauranga 17-year-old Frances Lloyd, 17 who is already a world junior champion won the gold medal in the junior female black belt specialty category and fellow 17-year-old Alex Petrovich from Palmerston North won gold in the male junior black belt specialty with Bailey Jeffrey from Fielding taking the silver medal.

Brenday Doogan of Dragons Spirit Papatoetoe won a bronze in the male black belt specialty (36-45 age group). Another medal went to Palmerston North competitors who have excelled at the tournament. This time it was Dan Yates and Jack Watson who combined to take bronze in the pre-arranged sparring, 12-14 years category.

This year’s world cup is the biggest event for the sport with over 1800 athletes taking part from 56 nations.
