It has been a little over a month since US tech giant Apple launched the latest iPhone 7. The company’s yearly smartphone releases have been nothing short of successful, and the same can be said about their newest offering. But, according to recent tech reports, the numbers for the iPhone 7 seem to be rising slower that those of its predecessor’s.

Apple’s latest gadget has key features that include a waterproof unibody, the second-gen fingerprint sensor and a pressure-sensitive home screen.

Slower Sales

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently announced that the company will not be announcing the weekend sales of their newest smartphone which has lead to marketing analysts closely following the growth of the iPhone 7 series’ sales instead.

Last week, marketing analysis blog Localytics claims that the iPhone  7 sat at 2.7% of the total market share compared with 3.6% of the total apple products, two weeks after its relaease. This is around 0.4% lower than the iPhone 6  recorded at around the same time last year.

Still A Hot Sell

Despite the purported lag on sales, many predict that the iPhone 7 will still manage to become a sought after smartphone, much like the previous iPhones.

A report from 9to5 Mac reports that the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world’s largest semiconductor foundry that works with the some of the biggest names in tech, including Apple, predicts the iPhone 7 will account for 10%-15% of the company’s revenue in the second half of the year.

TSMC is currently anticipating 82 million shipments for iPhone 7 units, which is much higher than initial predictions. This does not seem far-fetched, as the smartphone did launch to glowing reviews, with many consumer’s giving positive feedback.
