More and more people are becoming aware of the dangers of deodorants. A growing body of research shows that the chemicals in these products may cause breast cancer, DNA damage, Alzheimer's disease, and other life-threatening conditions. These toxins make their way into the lymph nodes, causing permanent changes in the cells and tissues. Fortunately, it's never too late to switch to natural deodorants.

Is Antiperspirant Really Toxic?

Statistics show that over 90 percent of people use deodorant daily and is considered essential for personal hygiene. What most people don’t know is that it contains parabens, aluminum, triclosan, propylene glycol, and other toxins that affect overall health. The most popular brands have at least one of these ingredients listed on the label.

Steareth, a key ingredient in deodorants, has been linked to an increased risk of cancer. Propylene glycol, a neurotoxin, raises the risk of liver and kidney damage. Triclosan irritates the skin, killing both good and bad bacteria. This ingredient is actually classified as a pesticide by the FDA. Deodorants also contain silica, which may trigger allergies, cancer, and immunotoxicity. Most antiperspirants are made with Aluminum compounds to block sweat. These compounds have been associated with a high risk of breast cancer. The same goes for parabens, phthalates, TEA, and DEA.

Should You Give Up Deodorant Completely?

The good news is that you don’t have to stop using deodorant. There are plenty of natural alternatives with no side effects. Natural deodorants can be found in most stores and come with a low price tag. You can even make your own antiperspirant using all natural ingredients, such as coconut oil, baking soda, mineral salt, or essential oils.

Natural deodorants contain beeswax, tea tree oil, sage, lavender, arrowroot powder, and other ingredients that reduce sweat and moisture. They are just as effective as traditional antiperspirants, but without the side effects. Better yet, these products can be safely used by people with sensitive skin, eczema, irritations, and allergies.
