Rangi Ruru Girls’ School has announced its 2016 Gold Braid Award winners at the end of year Prize Giving, held at Horncastle Arena on Monday 5 December. Congratulations to the girls who have received awards this year.

The 2016 prize winners including subject prizes are:

Maisie Nattrass
The Faletoese Cup and PTA Prize for the Best All Round Girl
Maisie received 1st in Chemistry, High Achievement in Biology, Design, English and Physics. She has been awarded a University of Auckland Top Achievers Scholarship for 2017.

Amy Huang
Dux and the Dorothy Bates Trophy “Reaching for the Stars”
The Dorothy Bates Trophy is awarded to the pupil who shows outstanding potential during her years at school. Amy also received 1st in Economics, 1st equal in English and the co-winner of the Rewiti Gardner Prize, 1st in Graphics and the Gould Stewart Cup for the senior student showing the most potential in Graphics, 1st in Media Studies and the Katherine Price Prize for Media, High Achievement in Printmaking and Statistics.

Proxime Accessit
Sarah receives 1st equal in English and the co-winner of the Rewiti Gardner Prize, 1st in French and the Buchan Cup for Foreign Languages, 1st in Spanish, High Achievement in Biology, Music and Statistics.

Georgia Harris
Principal’s Award for Generosity of Spirit
Georgia receives 1st in Geography and High Achievement in History and Statistics. She has been awarded an Otago University Leaders of Tomorrow and the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship, and a Victoria University Excellence Scholarship for 2017.

Cassie Henderson
The Prize for Outstanding Performing Arts
Cassie receives 1st in Contemporary Music.

Margot Willis
The Sophie Savill Cup for Outstanding Sportswoman

Mollie Carruthers
The Special Award for Perseverance

Gabriella Newman
The Samantha Perkins Memorial Prize for the Head of School
Gabi has been awarded an Otago University Leaders of Tomorrow Entrance Scholarship for 2017.

Madeleine Westley
McKenzie Cup for Service to the House

Claudia Roxburgh
Ethel Gibson Memorial Prize for the Head of the House
Claudia has been awarded an Otago University Leaders of Tomorrow Entrance Scholarship for 2017.

Pia Petersen
The Ian Stephenson Prize for Passion for the Environment
Pia has been awarded a Lincoln University Future Leaders Scholarship for 2017.

Jaimee Miller
Head of Health
Jaimee has been awarded a Victoria University Excellence Scholarship and an Otago University Leader of Tomorrow and Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for 2017.
