At a recent Architects’ workshop run by Rinnai Gas Heating Solutions Specialists, they fielded questions from architects on a variety of questions, as follows.

Q. What are the different flue options available on Rinnai Fires and what do they mean?

A. Rinnai offers three different types of flue (Natural draft, Power flue or Direct vent). The type of flue will determine where the fire can be installed. Natural draft is the standard flue system, drawing the air from the room, expelling the gases to the outside via a vertical flue. The power flue system has a sealed combustion chamber that draws air for combustion from the outside and expels the gases through an inner flue. A direct vent flue system, like the power flue, also has a sealed combustion chamber, but differs by using natural draft to draw air (from the outside) and expel combusted gases (to the outside).

Q. How does the Symmetry Heat Transfer system work?

A. The heat transfer system allows you the ability to warm up to two additional rooms using the heat transfer system via either a floor vent or ceiling outlet.

Q. Are all the fires efficient?

A. The Rinnai fire range are efficient heaters with a star rating of between 4.1-5.7 stars (excluding the Compact 2). The number of stars is a visual representation of the annual energy consumption and is great for a quick reference. The more stars a fire has, the more energy efficient it is.

Q. Why gas?

A. Gas is both fast and reliable. Natural gas is available to many areas of NZ but in areas where it isn’t available, it can be delivered to your doorstep in LPG bottles. It’s convenient and like natural gas, delivers fast efficient heat.

Q. Can I specify a Rinnai gas fire into an apartment?

A. Yes. The following fires can be installed in an apartment: Rinnai Evolve 951/1250 and Arriva 752. It is important to note that the flue termination point doesn’t go outside of the boundaries for the building consent.

Q. How many gas fires can you install in one house?

A. There is no limit to the number of gas fires that you can install in a house.

Q. What does the Architect portal provide me with?

A.
The Rinnai architect portal is an easy way to access light-weight CAD/BIM data for a number of Rinnai products for use in design specifications. The information is delivered in formats that support the latest tools being utilised by specifiers and the building industry.
