Press release for Stories to Heal Violence show 2017.

This year for the first time in Stopping Violence Dunedin’s 31-year history, we will be part of the Dunedin Fringe Festival. This is an excellent opportunity for our organisation to bring the issues of family violence in the community to the general public. Stopping Violence Dunedin is a not-for-profit charity working in the field of domestic violence, running programmes for men and women who have experienced violence in their relationships.

Stories to Heal Violence - a verbatim performance based on real life stories - is written and produced by Fran Kewene, in collaboration with Cinnamon Boreham and Tarn Felton from Stopping Violence Dunedin.

The verbatim performance is designed to highlight, in an honest and artistically creative portrayal, the transformations each client experiences through the hard work they do at Stopping Violence. 

This project honours the stories of real people and their bravery to want, not only to change, but to make a difference for their children, their families and wider community.

Stories to Heal Violence will take place at the Athenaeum over three nights during the Fringe Festival, from Thursday the 16th through to Saturday the 18th of March. It is rated R16, and parental guidance is recommended.
