Kiwi Teen Marcus Armstrong Recorded His First Formula Four Championship Win

In his initial race outing on the Red Bull Ring at Austria's Spielberg, 16-year-old Kiwi Marcus Armstrong has dominated qualifying at cycle three of the 2017 ADAC Formula 4 Championship and topped that with his first championship race win.

Armstrong, from the Prema Powerteam took charge at the ADAC Formula 4 qualifying at the 4.3 km Red Bull Ring, securing pole position in the initial two races. The teen posted the speediest lap of the session with a 1:29.954 minutes and was ahead where the second-best lap times are concerned which finalised the grid slots for the race on Sunday morning at 10.05am.

It has been a turnaround in fortunes for Armstrong who said he enjoyed the circuit and was pleased with both the car and his team claiming he was given a car so quick he couldn’t see what was happening behind him.

Sunday afternoons race at 4.30 will see Armstrong P10 on the fifth row on the grid and the tenth placed driver on pole.
