Another Cloud Edge Case Study

Cloud Edge provides phones, internet and IT services and is independent from the big companies, which means they can pass on better pricing, along with the added bonus of the personal support you can expect from a smaller, local company.

With big organisations come big projects at times to keep things running smoothly, and below is a case study which involved replacing the entire intranet for three departments who share the same platform.

Central Agency Shared Services, or CASS for short, is a key government organisation based in Wellington’s CBD. CASS manages three large government departments, including the Treasury (TSY), the State Services Commission (SSC) and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC).

CASS had a big job ahead of them – they needed to replace the intranet for all three departments using the platform, SharePoint. However, they did not have the inhouse expertise to design, develop, implement and handle the migration from their old system. As Andy of Cloud Edge had previously worked for the DIA (Department of Internal Affairs), CASS trusted him, certain of his technical expertise. As a subject matter expert for SharePoint, Andy provided coaching for internal teams, assistance with the4 design phases, technical escalation and consultation throughout the project.

To save on time and resources, all three intranets were built off the same set of base designs (with their own visual identity). In the end, each of the three departments had their own unique design, tailored to their individual needs.

Over the six-month period Andy assisted the CASS team with reporting to the project board on key progress updates and keeping the three central government departments informed.
