Ask Bartercard is the dedicated resource to answer your questions about Bartercard, as they have found that many people have the same queries about what Bartercard is and what it isn’t. They want to make sure people have the right information to allow them to make informed decisions about joining the Bartercard community, and can help spread the word about the Bartercard network and the benefits it can bring to a business.

This month they talk about the credibiity of Bartercard. The Bartercard Foundation was established in 2010, and is a registered charity which supports charities requiring wider national prominence for their great cause. Unlike most charities, who aim to pass on 80% of their donations to the cause, with 20% to cover expenses and other costs, 100% of the donations raised by the Foundation go to the chosen charity. Bartercard NZ pays for all the costs of operating the trust.

The Foundation commits to a charity for two years, after which time the sponsorship can be renewed or a new charity is carefully selected. Bartercard Foundation is in partnership with Heart Kids NZ, the only not-for-profit organisation supporting Kiwi kids and their families who are affected by Congenital Heart Disease, right through their life. They have no affiliation with the Heart Foundation.

Each week, 12 babies across New Zealand are born with a heart defect. While there are surgical procedures which can improve the heart’s function, there is no cure for CHD. Heart Kids NZ receive no government funding and must fundraise all its services, so the Bartercard Foundation is thrilled to be able to step in and help support some of these fundraising efforts.

Raymond Goubitz, Bartercard Trustee representative of the Foundation says, “The Trustees of the Bartercard Foundation are delighted to support Heart Kids with the valuable Support services they provide to families of Heart Children. Using Bartercard Trade Dollars, the Foundation will assist their cashflow and help raise their profile.” He adds, “We’re thrilled with the  ongoing support of our member community and their generosity towards the
Foundation and what it stands for, and the  difference this will make to those lives affected by CHD.”
