Helicopter wreckage removed from crash site

Helicopter wreckage from Sunday's fatal crash in Paraparaumu has now been removed to secure storage for examination.

Senior Sergeant Alasdair Macmillan, officer in charge of Kapiti Police, said the wreckage was packed into boxes and trucked early this afternoon to secure storage where it will be examined by Transport Accident Investigation Commission specialists.

Most of the Placemakers business has re-opened for trading with the exception of the enclosed panels store at the back of the building. The area where the helicopter crashed through the roof will stay closed until the building is cleaned and repaired.
