Selling stolen gold and silver difficult

Police say offenders will have a hard time moving silver, gold and coins taken in a burglary earlier this month.

Antique dealers, private collectors and second hand shops have been alerted and asked to report anyone trying to sell the unique items.

Constable Damian Parker says, "These items are quite unique and the community that trades in them is quite small. Any attempts to sell them are going to be noticed."

The burglary occurred at a rural address where a solid steel case was taken. The safe contained four 5kg silver bars, a 10oz gold bar, 80 gold sovereign and 50 half sovereign coins, 15 Canadian Maples coins plus a mix of about 250 Australia and UK coins.

The offenders also took a flat screen tv, surround sound system and jewelry.
