WAITAKERE CITY

Waitakere CIB investigators have arrested a 47 year old female as a result of their enquiries into allegations of fraud and theft at the Hoani Waititi Marae in West Auckland.

The unemployed woman will appear in the Waitakere District Court today on four charges. These are “Using a document for pecuniary advantage,” “Causing a loss by deception” [2] and theft.

The penalty for each of these offences is seven years imprisonment.

The arrest follows a complaint recently made to police that a substantial amount of money is believed to have been taken from the Marae Trust accounts over a significant duration of time from 2005 to 2009.

Police enquiries are continuing in this fraud investigation.
