Rug Up and Read programme warms up for its second Coromandel winter

Teen and adult book-lovers are again being tempted to dedicate quality time to reading this winter by a repeat performance of last years Rug Up and Read programme at the Thames-Coromandel District libraries.

Following the success of last year's programme, Thames, Tairua and Mercury Bay Libraries have been working to make Rug Up and Read even better for 2010.

Rewards for reading include incentive prizes, lucky book giveaways and social get-togethers with other participants. Readers also have the opportunity to extend beyond their usual reading comfort zone and reflect on what they have read by writing reviews for other readers.

Part of the challenge is to read three books during the six week programme and submit recommendation reviews when each book is finished.

Rug Up and Read costs nothing to join but places on the programme are limited. Registrations open at each of the three District libraries on Monday 31 May.

"Rug Up & Read was a lovely idea for the long cold winter evenings. I thoroughly enjoyed taking part." Anne.

"I really enjoyed the Rug Up & Read. I loved seeing what other people thought of the books. It also was great getting rewarded for reading." Michelle.

"The encouragement to venture in to a new genre was effective in my case - and the book I read has already gone on to one new reader and probably more." Patti.

Rug Up and Read starts on Tuesday 8 June with a launch event, then runs for six weeks, concluding with a grand finale coffee and cake celebration and prizegiving on Monday 19 July.
