Chris Forne and Ross Morrison have both qualified comfortably for the Middle distance final of the 2010 World Orienteering Championships.

Forne, who has achieved three of New Zealand's best ever mens results at the Championships, qualified in 8th place in heat 2.

After a year of training in Trondheim where the Championships are being run, Forne is in great shape to surpass his, and New Zealand's best, placing of 17th when he runs the final on Saturday.

Current NZ Middle distance champion Ross Morrison bounced back after a disappointing Sprint final on Monday with a fast and controlled race, qualifying in 9th place in heat 3.

A mistake-free run from Forne or Morrison will be needed to crack the top ten placings and rewrite the NZ Orienteering record books.

Team-members Tane Cambridge, Lara Prince and Rita Homes were just outside the qualifying mark of 15th place.
