PORIRUA

Porirua Police investigating a serious family violence incident last month are looking for anyone who may recall witnessing it.

Detective Constable Margo Sollitt says during the evening of or about Sunday the 15th of August 2010, a female wearing pyjamas and slippers ran from her house in Castor Cresent, Cannons Creek, to escape her violent partner.

"The victim has then run from Castor Crescent to Warspite Avenue, heading towards the Cannons Creeks shops, before her male partner allegedly caught her and carried her back to their house over his shoulder."

Detective Constable Sollitt says the victim allegedly fought the offender by kicking him but she was unable to get away from him.

"She has told Police that a number of cars drove past her that night and we want to hear from anyone who may recall this incident."

Detective Constable Sollitt says Police have been unable to interview the victim until this week but are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information, either by phoning the Porirua Police on (04) 238 1455 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A 31 year old Porirua man has been arrested and faces charges including assault with intent to injure, kidnapping and threatening to kill.
