The two top men’s sides in the Scarbro Caro Bowl continued their winning ways in the third round of the competition while a potential preview of the women’s final gave little away for the title winning match later in the season.

Parnell and Campbell Park men look all but set to have cemented their places in the semifinals after their third consecutive 6-0 victories. This time it was Parnell beating Royal Oak 6-0 and Campbell Park defeated Cockle Bay.

Parnell used Rubin Statham in the top singles and he duly beat Aaron McDougall in straight sets while Campbell Park used internationally ranked Australian Dane Propoggia in the top spot as he beat Henry Gers in the No1 singles.

Remuera were steady in their 4-2 win against Pompallier. They dropped the top singles and top doubles, but the combined efforts of James Shortall and Martin Colenbrander at two and three in singles and doubles kept the side on track and place them in third equal overall with Blockhosue Bay on 13 points behind Parnell and Campbell Park on 24.

In the men’s fourth round there’s the local derby between Herne Bay and Pompallier which will have both sides contemplating gaining some much needed points, while Remuera will be keen to put a stop to Campbell Parks run of 6-0 victories. Parnell host Blockhouse Bay and Cockle Bay are at home against Royal Oak.

Meanwhile Herne Bay gained their first points of the competition by grabbing the top singles and the No4 singles respectively thanks to wins by Kyle August and Brock Mustard against Jackson Bodle and veteran Jon Lawrence from Blockhouse Bay. However Blockhouse Bay were too strong in the remaining four matches.

In the women’s round it was Parnell who had too much dept for Royal Oak winning what has usually been a final over the past few years. Parnell took the contest 4-2, however the Oak won the top singles as Canterbury junior Leela Beattie defeated German Franziska Etzel in three tight sets. However Pavlina Nola, Rewa Harriman and Libby Scott were too strong in the other singles matches and the doubles were shared to give Parnell the edge, although Royal Oak will be hoping to have Emily Fanning back for any semis or finals to strengthen their side.

Glendowie took Pompallier to a countback, but were beaten seven sets to six pushing Pompallier to 19 points and a one point lead over Royal Oak. Kohimarama were back to almost full capacity and showed no mercy in their 6-0 victory against Remuera.

The most intriguing clash in the women’s fourth round is Parnell hosting Pompallier with Etzel taking on Shelley Bryce in the top singles clash. Royal Oak have another home tie, this time against Remuera and Kohimarama have a local clash when they host Mission Bay.
