Solid Energy logical owner

Solid Energy’s announcement that it wishes to acquire the assets of Pike River is a good move, says West Coast Labour MP Damien O’Connor.

“Their experience and local knowledge should provide the much-needed focus on progress that the Grey District and Pike families are crying out for.

“Recovery of the bodies and then the redevelopment of the mine will allow us all to move on with hope for a better future.

“Whether it is the receivers, Solid Energy or the Government, money has to be made available for the recovery operation. This announcement makes that now all the more possible and families will be grateful for that hope,” Damien O’Connor said.
