Council Appointee

Expressions of interest are sought for a Council appointee to the Board of Destination Marlborough Trust Incorporated.

The board consists of four appointed members and two Council appointees. Due to the resignation of one of the Council appointees Council wants to fill this position for the balance of the Council term.

Council seeks expressions of interest from persons with an understanding of tourism who can bring skills that will contribute to the future of the organisation. Experience in a corporate governance role would be an advantage. The role includes attendance at monthly board meetings, involvement in working committees and undertaking specific tasks from time to time.

Destination Marlborough is a successful regional tourism organisation, marketing Marlborough in domestic and global tourism markets. It also manages the Picton and Blenheim i-SITEs. It is funded by Marlborough District Council, by industry, from its operations and through the targeted tourism rate.

The board’s role is one of governance and accordingly it reviews financial and operational performance, resourcing and the setting and achievement of strategic and operational goals.

The term of the appointment in until the local body elections in October 2013.
