First meeting date confirmed

Far North Mayor Wayne Brown and the new district council will officially meet for the first time on Monday 05 November to begin the new triennial term.


The newly elected council and community board members will be introduced at a powhiri at the Kaikohe Memorial Hall beginning at 10.30 a.m. and the council and boards will meet officially for the first time at 1 p.m. at the Council Chambers in Memorial Avenue.


The business of the day will include an introduction to the general laws affecting elected members, an introduction to standing orders, and declarations of office by the elected members.


The council and the boards will meet individually to appoint a deputy mayor (in the case of the council) and board chairpersons for the new term.
