WELLINGTON CITY

Seaweek kicks off this weekend. It's an annual nationwide event run by the New Zealand Association for Environmental Education to raise awareness about our coastal and marine environment.

Seaweek - a chance to renew your connection with the sea

We're coordinating a great week of events to get you thinking about the ocean on your doorstep, including open days at the Island Bay Marine Centre and Victoria University Coastal Ecology Laboratory.

This weekend, there's a four-wheel-drive coastal plant tour (9.00am - 1.00pm on Saturday 3 March, Owhiro Bay Quarry Road car park - bookings essential); an open day at the marine education centre (10.00am - 3.00pm); and a community clean-up at Lyall Bay beach (10.00am, 4 March, Lyall Bay Parade by the playground).

Seaweek is part of Wellington 2012 Year of the Coast, so look out for more great events throughout the year.
