The Let’s Go website won the Association of Local Government Information Management (ALGIM) Best New Feature Website award at this week’s ALGIM Web Symposium in Rotorua.

The judges said: “This great website encourages users to return again and again – as any great website should – because they can find all the information in the one place. It allows users to log and save data of previous trips which in turn saves times for users. It is easy to interact with and navigate and the use of bright colours draws your attention to the site.”

“It’s fantastic to get this sort of endorsement of the Let’s Go website and we hope it encourages plenty more people to log on and try the site,” says Let’s Go Project Manager Carl Whittleston.

The website was launched in January this year to support the work the Council’s Let’s Go team is doing to encourage the district’s residents to walk, ride or take the bus.

Some 387 people have registered on the site and together the Let’s Go community has logged over 17,500 sustainable kilometres.

Let’s Go came about in 2010 when New Plymouth District Council was awarded funds from the New Zealand Transport Agency to become a model walking and cycling community.
