44th National Fieldays closes on high

Gates closed on the world’s fifth largest rural sector tradeshow today with a massive 128, 271 visitors through the 44th New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays. The final day saw 30,292 gather at Mystery Creek, a whopping 40% up on the previous year’s Saturday. Overall attendance was a 9% improvement on the 2011 event, leaving exhibitors and organisers exultant with the past four days effort.

Being the final day of Fieldays, it also marked the close of remaining competitions. Congratulations to Megan King of Tamahere, Hamilton, who was drawn the winner of the Fieldays Programme prize. Special thanks to prize sponsors, Big Brand Leisure, who provided the prize of a $10,000 luxury spa pool from their range of premium spa pools.

The winner of the Big Little Town Letterbox Challenge went to Sue Hannah of Te Aroha, for her letterbox creation, “Earth Produce Home Grown”; earning her a Suzuki DR200SE motorcycle courtesy of Suzuki.

On Friday, the winners of Fieldays NZ Wire / Wiremark Fencing Championships were announced, placings can be found in this accompanying media release. The Fieldays Tractor Pull prize giving was held late this afternoon, winners and placings will be published on http://fieldays.co.nz on Monday.

New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays is held annually and returns in 2013 for its 45th year, on 12 to 15 June. The 2013 Premier Feature, which sets the theme of the event, will be announced in August along with the key sponsor.
