Statham Continues Top Form

Kiwi Davis Cup player Rubin Statham has captured another Futures doubles title and looks set to improve his ATP rankings after his latest effort at a tournament in Germany.

Statham’s form of late will advance his current ranking of 333 in singles and 233 in doubles in the lead up to New Zealand’s Davis Cup clash with India in India next month.

Statham and Australian partner Dane Propoggia won their second doubles in consecutive weeks. They defeated the Mexican pair of Miguel Reyes-Varela and Bruno Rodriguez in the final of the US$10,000 Friedberg Futures 6-1 6-4. In singles Statham reached the quarterfinals.

This week he plays at the US10,000 Futures in Karlsruhe, Germany.

In the United States Auckland’s Adam Lee who is attending university at Wake Forrest will earn an ATP doubles ranking point as a result of making the doubles semifinals of the Futures event at Edwardsville, Illinois.

Lee  and American David Hopkins progressed to the doubles semifinals before eventually losing to the Korean pair of Hyeon Chung and Ji Sung Nam 7-6(7) 4-6 10-5.
