Art Gallery Set to Score Again

This item was published on 10 Aug 2012.

The Dunedin Public Art Gallery is elated to note that it has been short-listed in not one, but three categories of the Museums Australia Multimedia & Publication Design Awards (MAPDA).

The categories to which the Art Gallery submitted entries were:

    * Posters for the exhibitions Nollywood and Black Power
    * Invitation for Nina Katchadourian: Seat Assignment
    * Calendar and Information Brochure: LOG (# 9, 10, 11)

Dunedin Public Art Gallery Graphic Designer Karina McLeod was "delighted" at the news and Exhibitions Manager Robyn Notman said “I'm thrilled that the Dunedin Public Art Gallery's publication designs have been short-listed yet again, (third year running) for the MAPDA awards.

“This highly competitive design award is open to all galleries and museums from New Zealand and Australia, and to be selected in each of the three categories we entered this year is a significant achievement and one that the Gallery can be really proud of.”

In 2011, the Gallery won the ‘Exhibition Catalogue’ category for Wayne Barrar: An Expanding Subterra and the ‘Calendar and Information Brochure’ category for three issues of LOG.

In 2010 the Gallery won the ‘Exhibition Catalogue’ category for Beloved: Works from the Dunedin Public Art Gallery and the ‘Invitation’ category for the same exhibition.

Judging took place in Canberra on Friday 3 August at the National Museum of Australia. The shortlist was decided and winners and highly commended entries were then decided from this list.

A list of winners and highly commended organisations will be available soon and they will be contacted when the multimedia judging is complete. The MAPDA Awards ceremony will take place at the MA National Conference 2012 in Adelaide in September.
