Police and search and rescue volunteers will this afternoon start a systematic search of all properties within about 300 metres of missing Nelson woman Ann Sheridan's Mount Street home.

All residents in the Mount Street area, including Konini Street, Renwick Place, Locking Street and surrounds can expect searchers to visit them.

Searchers will either be uniformed Police or Land SAR volunteers who will be wearing easily identifiable search and rescue clothing. They will identify themselves to residents and ask to look around the property for any clues to Miss Sheridan's disappearance.

Searchers will not be asking to enter houses.

The search will begin this afternoon in Mount Street. It will cease around 5pm and resume again tomorrow morning from 8am.

Police are asking all Nelson residents to take the time to look around their properties for anything that might be of relevance to the investigation.

Police are particularly interested in locating a small day pack that belongs to Miss Sheridan, which is currently unaccounted for. Police have information that it may be coloured red, however that has not been confirmed so we would be interested in any sightings of a small backpack.
