10 day tour with Roam Morocco

Day 1: Casablanca - Rabat
We start out tour in Casablanca visiting Hassan II Mosque, the
biggest mosque in Morocco before heading to Morocco's capital Rabat. In the afternoon we visit some of Rabat's most well known sites including the Royal Palace.

Day 2: Rabat – Volubilis – Fes
Departing Rabat we head towards Fes, stopping off at Volubilis. Volubilis (a UNESCO world heritage site) is the best preserved Roman ruins in North Africa, with beautiful mosaic floors and stunning views of the Rif mountains. After checking in to accommodation in Fes we visit some of the famous sites including Kairaoine Mosque and the tanneries.

Day 3: Fes
Fes is a city to be explored. It is known to be one of the greatest cities in times of high Islamic civilisation. Walking the streets of the old town of Fes will take you back in time but to make the most out of the city we spend the morning with an experienced Fes guide who will take you to some of the hidden treasures that Fes has to offer. Free afternoon.

Day 4: Fes – Erfoud – Midelt – Merzouga (Sahara Desert)
We set off early and leave the Fes behind to make our way to the Sahara desert staying in the oasis town of Merzouga. On our journey to Merzouga we stop along the way at Erfoud and Midelt before arriving early evening in Merzouga.
We can relax for the evening in the surrounding of our beautiful auberge. Freshen up in the pool or explore the dunes nearby.

Day 5: Merzouga
Today we visit Khamlia, a small village in the Sahara where Gnawa music originated. Close by is Dayet Srji salt lake. Dayet Srji is a bird lover's paradise and at different times of the year is a resting point for many migrating birds including flamingos. This afternoon we pack our camels to head to our Bedouin tent under the stars. We time our departure so we can see the sunset in its full glory and continue on to our berber camp with a nomad family in the desert. An evening
of music and sumptuous dinner will be a wonderful end to the day.

Day 6: Merzouga – Tinghir – Todra Gorge
We set off after breakfast towards Todra Gorge, an impressive canyon in the High Atlas mountains. As we head West through the Maghreb region we stop at Erfoud, capital of the fossils and Tinghir at the mouth of the gorge to explore the souks. As we drive into Todra Gorge we stop along the way to take in this magnificent and unique landscape.

Day 7: Todra Gorge
We spend the day in the beautiful outdoors of Todra Gorge. Take a guided walk through the gorge where figs, dates, almonds and pomegranate are grown in abundance, or for the more adventurous spend the morning hiking in the mountains. Learn the art of Moroccan cooking later in
the day.

Day 8: Todra Gorge - Valley of the Roses - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou
Stopping at the Valley of the Roses on our way to Ouarzazate the bustling city of the South. We explore Ouarzazate before heaidng to the film studios where many famous movies have been made. Our afternoon is spent in Ait Ben Haddou to explore the Kasbah.

Day 9: Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakesh
Head through Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2260m) that drive to Marrakesh offers beautiful mountainous landscapes and many small villages along the way. Staying close to Jemaa el-Fnaa night markets, you have a free evening.

Day 10: Marrakesh - Casablanca
After breakfast, transfers to Marrakesh or Casablanca airports, end of trip.
