EzyGlasses’ glasses are of the same quality optics as those at a physical optical retail store and they offer a complete range of eyeglasses, including progressives and bifocals, and all online glasses can have a tint added to become prescription sunglasses. One of the most frequently asked questions at EzyGlasses is regarding their prescription, and the EzyGlasses team advise that if people don’t have a copy of their prescription, they should request a copy from their eye care professional, who are legally required to supply them a copy, preferably by email.

To place an order for glasses, people will need a valid and current spectacle prescription, bearing in mind that a contact lens prescription cannot be used to make glasses. EzyGlasses advise that there are some prescriptions they are unable to make in the glasses they supply. This is due to a number of factors. Some prescriptions require the customer to be measured by their eye care professional for things like the distance from the front of the eye to the surface of the lenses. Obviously when buying glasses online this is impossible to know, therefore if a prescription has more values than what EzyGlasses ask for, or they don’t seem to be asked for at all, it probably means the customer will be unable to purchase glasses from the EzyGlasses site.

When ordering glasses, EzyGlasses need to know what people will be using them for, which can sometimes affect the prescription and they need to know what type of lenses they have been prescribed for.  They also need to supply the pupillary distance or PD, which is the distance between the eyes, measured from the centre of one pupil to the centre of the other. It is the measurement in millimetres. For a pair of glasses to give the best vision correction possible, the lenses need to be made to match this distance between the eyes, so that the centre of each lens aligns with the centre of the pupils and eye care professionals should supply the PD as part of the prescription.

The PD is often left off the prescription, although it’s usually recorded in the person’s file and if a PD falls outside the range offered by EzyGlasses, they will be unable to supply glasses to the customer.
