That soft, warm and shapeless hat we place on our heads and pull over our ears can be seen and used in any number of situations. Farmers may wear them for practicality or fishermen using them just to keep their ears from dropping off when those cold New Zealand southerlies blow. While we think of the practical uses there is also a fashionable side to them, and that is why their diversity makes them a great winter promotional marketing tool. But how did the iconic Beanie come about?

The first hats that were of similar style to the Beanie can be traced back to the 12th and 13th centuries. They surfaced under the name Monmouth caps and were fittingly named after the town where they originated. In the early days, women were the main wearers, until they evolved to a very similar shape to the current Beanie between the 15th to the 18th century, where they were commonly used by nearly everyone in England and Wales. In the 1620’s, the early settlers of Massachusetts brought the evolving Monmouth caps to the world. There are different theories of how the word Beanie evolved from those early times. I’m glad it has, as to me the word Beanie just fits and as for Monmouth cap.

As we head towards the end of autumn, Tell & Sell and the world of Promotional Products turn towards Thermal Mugs, Beanies, Jackets and Umbrella’s. All four are a fantastic way to promote your business but not all can be a fashion statement like a Beanie. Today’s Beanies come in many styles and colours and can be dressed up or down to suit all occasions, with the added bonus of your branding being at eye level so really can’t be missed. Now is the time to take the plunge as there will be a lot of stress on stock in the coming weeks, so to find out more today, please visit the website at http://promotiional-products.nz/ .
