A pre-paid funeral is a means of paying, or part paying funeral expenses in advance of their being needed, and they are taken out for a variety of reasons, such as peace of mind, or as a legal way of reducing your assets for Asset Testing purposes. For example, to qualify for the Residential Care Subsidy.
At Dil’s Funeral Services, in conjunction with pre-paying funeral expenses, you may also pre-arrange your funeral. By doing this you are able to plan your funeral in advance and record your instructions; thus, helping ensure that when the time comes your wishes are known.
At Dil’s they offer the FDANZ Funeral Trust. This plan is owned by the Funeral Directors' Association of New Zealand (FDANZ). Under the FDANZ Funeral Trust, client monies are held in trust until the time of your death. At this time the amount paid into the Funeral Trust, plus any interest accrued, less any fees applicable are used to pay your funeral expenses. If the balance is insufficient to pay all funeral expenses then a claim is made against the estate for any outstanding amount. Likewise, any money left over after funeral costs have been met will be returned to the estate.

Dil’s Funeral Services are members of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand (FDANZ), and they are also members, by invitation, of Selected Independent Funeral Homes which is an international organisation that recognises excellence in funeral services.

Many of the Dil’s team hold formal tertiary qualifications in funeral directing and embalming, and are personally members of the New Zealand Embalmers Association (NZEA) or on the FDANZ National Register of Funeral Directors.

Through these membership, they are bound to abide by formal Codes of Ethics for your protection, and they also give you their personal assurance that they will always act with integrity and in the best interests of their client families.
