To survive and thrive in the current economic environment, businesses in New Zealand need to be highly agile and innovative. Businesses face the risk of being left behind, or replaced, by a better business – one that can satisfy customer needs and deliver value in a better way. Sustaining agility and innovation requires organisations to continuously restructure to keep apace or ahead of advances.

In particular, advances in technology are unprecedented and occurring at lightning speed. This fast tempo requires employees to be both resilient and agile, able to maintain their performance under pressure and adjust positively to new challenges. However, ongoing rapid change can create heightened stress for employees and an experience of constant overwhelm. Reduced productivity and poor employee wellbeing can be the result for some businesses.

How can organisations mitigate this risk? Best practice scientific research has clearly identified both the individual skills employees need to demonstrate this resilience, and the climate organisational leaders need to foster to enable agility.

In an upcoming breakfast presentation Umbrella CEO Gaynor Parkin will review key insights from this research and provide practical examples of how organisations can strengthen employee resilience and agility. This presentation takes place on Tuesday 8 August from 7.45am to 9am, at The Generator, Level 1, 28 Custom’s Street East, Auckland. To confirm your place email lidya@umbrella.org.nz .

Robust evidence from academic and business case studies link employee resilience and wellbeing with improved employee engagement, creativity and innovation, talent retention and organisational productivity.

Umbrella work where their clients are, and are happy to travel from their Wellington and Auckland offices. They design the most effective programmes to demonstrate improved business outcomes for their clients.
