Tourism is New Zealand’s largest export industry in terms of foreign exchange earnings, responsible for 4.3% of the national GDP ($9.8 billion NZD). And what do tourists want to do when they come to New Zealand? They want to immerse themselves in the two things our country is known for: nature and adventure. Cycling is one way to combine these.

There is a growing use of e-bikes in the tourism industry in New Zealand. EMTB (electric mountain bikes) are becoming a huge sector, especially in more mountainous areas. Many tourists are using EMTBs for rail touring throughout the country, as it is an exciting and convenient way to explore a local area with ease. Electric mountain bikes are powerful yet simple to control, making them ideal for tourists who want to see as much as possible without exerting themselves.

Think Electric Bikes supplies a range of electric bicycles in Auckland, including EMTBs. They supply e-bikes for all sectors and even have models specifically designed for rail trails coming out early this year. E-bikes can be purchased, but they can also be rented – a perfect option for tourists. The Volto Falcon Trekker, Volto Tui, and Volto Robin can be rented.

Locals and tourists can rent an e-bike for $60 for up to 3 hours, and $80 for over 3 hours. Helmets are provided, but cyclists are welcome to bring their own. The shop is based in idyllic Devonport, near great trails like North Head, Mount Victoria, and Ngataringa park trail. To find out more information on renting, visit Think Electric Bikes.
