Global comfort footwear brand, Hush Puppies, this year celebrates the Year of the Dog with 60 years of casual style with a limited edition capsule collection, The Decades, inspired by American pop culture and the hottest fashion trends of the time.
Each of the six styles features elements which are iconic of the generation while representing footwear from the Hush Puppies archives in a fun and colourful way.
Sixty years ago, Hush Puppies created a casual suede shoe that would ultimately change the kind of shoes we wear. Featuring a soft suede upper and crepe rubber sole, the original Hush Puppies shoes provided a modern option that was quickly embraced for its original and casual style that reflected the shift in US culture from a conservative to a more relaxed lifestyle.
Hush Puppies was born in 1958, and the 1958 Oxford lace ups are a sign of the times with a shoe that is every bit as stylish as they are practical. A sleek black pony hair style suede upper with velvet and patent accents make up the outer construction with a durable, rubber outsole which provides a vintage-inspired touch to everyday outfits.
Into the ‘60’s, the 1960’s Oxford is the throwback style inspired by the British invasion, minimalist art and mod-fashion.
Deep into the ‘70’s, the 1970’s loafers are the classic style crafted in sleek suede with a tassel detail, designed with an unmistakable 70’s palette and patchwork pattern.
With not-so-subtle style, the 1980’s Oxford is crafted in a bold neon colour palette, featuring ‘80’s accents from pop art-inspired prints and panelling to edgy, pyramid studs along the back.
The only boot in the collection, the 1990’s Chukka reflects the grunge era in a leather lace-up style with stud detailing along the seams and contrast laces. Wear them with ripped jeans to truly celebrate the fearless fashion of the 90’s.
Into the 21st Century, the 2000’s Loafer is loaded with personality thanks to the gold foil “HP” logo print along the back of the ankle and double denim-inspired colourway.
The Limited Edition range retails for $249.95 and $299.95 for the boot. Available at selected Hush Puppies Concept Stores and online at www.hushpuppies.co.nz and www.hannahs.co.nz while stocks last.
