Stardome love kids and kids love space! That’s why Children’s Day is one of their favourite days of the year. To celebrate the little aliens in our lives, Stardome is hosting a public open day on national Children’s Day, March 4.

Come along for a day filled with family-friendly fun. There will be short planetarium shows running every 30 minutes, so children and adults alike can witness the wonders of the Universe, all from the comfort of a reclined seat (parents, think: entertained children!) They will also have a bouncy castle, face painting, rocket launching, solar telescopes, food and a room full of science fun.

No need to book. Sunday 4 March, 10am-4pm.
$2 per person.

The Planetarium has been Upgraded!

You may have noticed that Starome have been a little quiet recently, and that’s because they weren’t showing any planetarium shows in the second half of February. Why? Their planetarium system just underwent a massive upgrade!

Technology moves quickly and Stardome prides itself on having a cutting-edge planetarium system which can deliver an out-of-this-world, 360-degree experience. To continue to deliver the best shows possible, in the best quality possible, they recently installed two new laser projectors, to replace the existing ones which have been operating since 2008. These new projectors deliver high-contrast 4K images and as a result, the images on the dome are now crisper and more vibrant.

Alongside the projectors, the latest application that runs the planetarium shows has been upgraded to ‘Digistar 6.’ This new software has significant rendering improvements and more astronomy data to include in our night sky tours. You can now fly into valleys or through mountain ranges through any planet, moon or exoplanet and witness 16K resolution of the surfaces of these foreign worlds!

Rest assured, next time you visit Stardome you will witness an out-of-this-world adventure experienced like never before.
