Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis Test Available at Orange Health

Orange Health Clinic of Natural Medicine is now providing a new service Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA). HTMA is a safe and non-invasive pathology test. It measures the levels and comparative ratios of nutrient and toxic minerals found in hair. It is regarded by many doctors, naturopaths and nutritional therapists as one of the most valuable screening tools available in everyday and preventative health care.

Hair, like all other body tissues, contains minerals that are deposited as the hair grows. Although the hair is dead, the minerals remain as the hair continues to grow out. A sample of hair cut close to the scalp provides information about the mineral activity in the hair that took place over the past three to four months, depending on the rate of hair growth. The test provides reliable data on more than 35 nutrient and toxic minerals, and over 25 important mineral ratios.

Most food we eat is nutrient deficient due to depleted soils and the dominant industrial agribusiness model of production. It is common to be well-fed yet undernourished. Essential nutrient elements are required for growth, development and physiological functions. Our bodies cannot synthesise essential minerals therefore these must be obtained from the diet.
