Cruising in the M/V Expedition you will visit the Falkland Islands and discover Stanley, the small capital which is a hub, and the main shopping centre of the islands, where you can meet the hardy local inhabitants.
Home to many wonders, including Shackleton’s Grave, South Georgia Island has several abandoned whaling stations and is home to plentiful wildlife. A major highlight of this part of the journey is visiting a huge colony of king penguins. You then change course and head south and sail for two days, retracing Shackleton's route backwards as you make your way towards Elephant Island and the Antarctic Peninsula.
Next you will experience some of the most unique wildlife viewing and inspiring scenery in the world as you make your first landing on the Antarctic continent. You will encounter weddell, crabeater and leopard seals, gentoo, chinstrap and adélie penguin rookeries, and orcas, humpback and minke whales in the cold Antarctic waters. The peninsula also has a remarkable human history.
