Jenlogix have recently installed more KiwiRail Earthquake units. This is an earthquake sensor, alarm system – Palert and Palert+ to provide warning to trains. Palert devices give both onsite and regional earthquake early warnings, with a local seismic switch, and have building structural health monitoring, and rapid reporting with a near real time shaking map. They are very low cost, are easily maintained and with 3 Palert units in a building, the system can provide engineers with rapid determination of the structural health of a building, allowing the engineers to prioritise the detailed inspection following a quake.

Jenlogix have also provided KiwiRail with detection units for ground acceleration movement after an earthquake. With over 3,000 units installed worldwide, the Palert P-wave seismic alarm system has proven itself at helping provide early warning where possible, plus supplying valuable data on the effects of an Earthquake. All products in the Palert range are independently calibrated and certified by an internationally ISO approved testing lab.

In several countries like Taiwan, India, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, USA and New Zealand, the use of the low cost P-wave based Palert system provides timely and accurate information, Earthquake warnings, with even just a few seconds notice of a shock wave, using the Palert system, can help to save lives.

The specially developed and scientifically proven algorithm make the Palert unique in earthquake prewarning, which is why over 3,500 have now been installed worldwide. Many businesses need to know what the effect of an earthquake is on their infrastructure. With just three units the system can also accurately indicate the structural health of a building after a major quake.

These have also been installed in schools in the South Island, namely Sefton, Amberley, Omihi and Ward schools, and have provided local schools with some earthquake warning and information about the impact on the school, so for more information on earthquake early warnings please go to https://earthquakeearlywarning.systems/
