The port of Napier recently had some concerns about one of the port lighting towers. Its visible behaviour in strong winds caused the Port to consult with an engineer, who in turn recommended the surveillance of the tower with vibration monitoring instruments - Palerts!

Jenlogix has supplied the Port with the world renowned Palert seismometers / vibration monitoring devices. They installed two units on the massive block base and one on the top of the tower, combined with the Palert+ Rapid Structural Health Diagnostic (RSHD). The system is being used to monitor the tower, and in  addition, one of the units on the base is used to monitor vibration, based on the worldwide ISO standard.

All the data is available locally and in the cloud so that structural engineers can monitor the towers. Further benefit is available to the Port, as the Palert seismometers  are able to provide earthquake early warning as part of the on-board configuration. This is the same early warning algorithm that is behind the country of Taiwan's national Earthquake Early Warning System (EEWS)

Having been an international distributor for the Palert range of products since 2014, Jenlogix have sold the solution widely, including to the USA, Philippines, Peru and of course New Zealand, where they are used by major power companies, Kiwi Rail and councils to name just a few markets.

Palert are currently the only Seismic devices sold in New Zealand that have been tested and certified by an internationally accredited TAF Lab, and are the only Structural Health Solution sold in New Zealand that uses TAF Lab tested and certified instruments.

Palert is the only commercially available system sold in New Zealand that is used by governments internationally, as an approved Earthquake Early Warning System for entire countries, and is the only system sold in New Zealand, backed by a publicly listed USD 80 million, company with over 50 years experience in the geotechnical, engineering construction, manufacturing, vibration and earthquake monitoring fields.
