Trust Property Management Undertake Rigorous Meth Screening

Trust Property Management use the services of a third party called TPS, who only offer their services to professional property managers (not private landlords).  This includes credit checks, social media checks, police, justice and background checks. Then because they also do regular property inspections, (once every three months)  which include photos, and detailed written reports the chances that someone is cooking meth in a property should not go unnoticed for too long.

However, a recent bombshell report shows there is no real risk to humans from third-hand exposure to houses where methamphetamine has been consumed.

This means tens of thousands of homes have been needlessly tested and cleaned at the cost of millions of dollars, with some demolished and left empty. This study by the Prime Minister's Chief Science Advisor, Sir Peter Gluckman, found that New Zealand authorities had made a ‘leap in logic’ setting standards.

Essentially, a standard used overseas based on what ‘clan labs’ should be cleaned to, was now being used as a trigger to start cleaning here, despite no real health risk at that level. "In the absence of clear scientific and health information, there has been an assumption among the general public that the presence of even trace levels of methamphetamine residue poses a health risk," Gluckman said. "There is absolutely no evidence in the medical literature of anyone being harmed from passive use, at any level. We can't find one case."

Housing Minister, Phil Twyford, has ordered Housing New Zealand to look at all aspects of the meth myth disaster, and what redress or further steps the Government should take. Twyford ordered HNZ to produce a ‘comprehensive report’ into its meth contamination response, and says the meth testing saga is a public policy failure, and has ordered HNZ to investigate how the mistake happened, how many were affected, and what the Government needs to do to atone.

Trust Property Management has invested in dedicated property inspection processes and tools, and will be on site at your property once every three months. They undertake a detailed property inspection in all areas and ensure tenants are meeting the obligations in their bespoke Trust Property Management tenancy agreement. Photos will be updated, a condition report completed and any required maintenance noted.
