TWOA’s Youth programmes help you explore and prepare for a career and gain NCEA Level 2 credits, and can help you get started whether you’re interested in technology or construction, the arts, fitness, or retail and tourism. You’ll attend classes each day but won’t stay sitting in a classroom - you’ll get to try the jobs you’re interested in and see if it works for you.

Their Youth Guarantee programmes can help you make the leap from school to work, taking charge of your own learning in a fun and supportive environment with other youth or rangatahi. They’ll get you on track to gain qualifications and prepare for work.

You must be 16 - 19 years of age at the start of the Youth Guarantee programme, and you must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. You’ll be able to get up to two years of free full-time study in a level 1-3 programme, and 18 and 19 year olds can apply for course related costs and living costs from Studylink. If you are aged under 16 years, an exemption certificate is required from either your school principal, the office of the Ministry of Education, or a person designated under Sections 21 or 26 of the Education Act 1989.

Established in 1984, Te Wānanga o Aotearoa provides holistic education opportunities of the highest quality for Māori, peoples of Aotearoa and the world.
