Father’s Day is fast approaching! There are currently four Dads who truly celebrate an out-of-this world Father’s Day. NASA astronauts Drew Feustel and Ricky Arnold and Cosmonauts Oleg Artmyev and Sergei Prokopyev are four out of the six current International Space Station residents, all with children waiting for them back on Earth.

While it would be AWESOME to say Dad currently lives out-of-this-world like these guys; the next coolest thing is giving Dad an out-of-this-world adventure without him needing to leave his reclining (Dads love those!) seat. For all planetarium shows on Saturday 2 September, your Dad/Granddad/fatherly figure will get in FREE with a paying person. Get Dad to select a show below, then call 09 624 1246 to book your seats.

There’s a great line up of shows playing in the 360-degree planetarium theatre:
1pm – Accidental Astronaut. Follow the adventures of Cy and Annie as they embark on an unexpected journey into space.
2pm – Tilt. Learn how the seasons work in an entertaining and whirlwind adventure with sibling duo Annie and Max.
3pm - Secret of the Cardboard Rocket. Join two young adventurers for a breath-taking, up-close look at each of our Solar System’s planets with guidance from a wise astronomy book.
4pm - We are Aliens. Take a fascinating journey to find the evidence of alien life in our galaxy and answer some of the big questions about our Universe.
6pm - Spring Stories in the Sky. Explore the night sky as the ancient stories hidden in the stars are brought to life by the characters of Greek and Māori characters. Narrated by Lucy Lawless and John Rhys-Davis.
7pm – Black Holes. Learn about one of the most intriguing and mysterious phenomena in the Universe!
8pm - Spring Night Sky. Learn about the planets, stars and constellations that are visible in the night sky this spring in this captivating presenter-led show.

Stardome and its team have been sharing a love of space from its premises in Auckland’s One Tree Hill Domain since 1967. A place of exploration, research and sharing of knowledge, the Stardome 360-degree planetarium Night Sky shows take viewers into outer space to get a closer view of stars, planets and nebulae. Stardome night planetarium shows also include telescope viewings (weather permitting). School children across Auckland enjoy daytime visits for school trips.
